ISMIE Mutual Insurance Company's inaugural Risk Management Symposium
A Physician-First Approach to Patient-Centered Care - is a daylong conference taking place November 10 in Oak Brook, Illinois. The symposium features ten industry thought leaders and innovators in health care who will discuss practical ways physicians can improve their patients' experience by addressing patient safety, quality, health IT, physician burnout, and diagnostic error. Speakers will use case studies, statistics, anecdotes, and scientific research to introduce new concepts and techniques - and attendees can select which breakout sessions to attend, allowing them to personalize the experience so it has the most relevance to themselves and their practice.
ISMIE policyholders may attend at no charge; and ISMS members and employed staff of ISMIE policyholders receive significant registration discounts. However all physicians, clinicians, practice administrators and risk managers are welcome to attend.   Learn more here.

ABFM Update

The Self Assessment Module (SAM) used to be comprised of two sections: the 60-question knowledge assessment and the clinical simulation. Based on data compiled from your comments and feedback over the last several years, the ABFM decided earlier this year to split the SAMs into two separate activities. Now, the Knowledge Self-Assessment 60 questions will be the minimum required self-assessment activity. The clinical simulation, now known as the Clinical Self-Assessment, will still be available as an option, but not required to fulfill the 50-point minimum per 3-year Stage.
