Family Physician Magazine

Illinois Family Physician is a quarterly magazine with news and information for family physicians. The publication is e-mailed as an interactive e-magazine to all IAFP members who provided their e-mail address. All four issues are published as an e-magazine, and are mailed to Active and Life members. Contact the editor, Ginnie Flynn at [email protected] or 773-754-1185, if you are interested in submitting an article for a future issue that reflects our mission of advocacy, education and action for family physicians and patients.  Proposals for articles are considered on a case-by-case basis, with preference given to IAFP members.

December 2023 - The Illinois chapter celebrated our end of the year Academy Awards along with the return of AAFP Congress of Delegates and FMX to Chicago.  This issue is filled with amazing stories and honors for our members.  From members in the spotlight at Congress, to our own annual awards, the final week of October was filled with gratitude.  You'll also meet three of our youngest members who experienced the best of family medicine through the Summer Externship program and finally a look at a living legend among our members.   

August 2023 Find updated vaccine information for influenza and vaccinations for pregnant patients that you can put in to practice right away. Learn more about the STRETCH-OB program at the University of Illinois Rockford Family Medicine Residency Program which is working to build better pregnancy and birth care in rural Illinois. May 2023 - IAFP's Spring into Action returns to in-person advocacy at the Statehouse!  IAFP members, especially resident physician members, gathered in Springfield to reintroduce family medicine to the Illinois General Assembly.  Meanwhile we caught up with several Student members who have been involved with IAFP programs and are now preparing for a family medicine residency. Our education updates include resources to help you with adult patients who need to catch up on vaccines and infection prevention and control resources from Project Firstline.  Access it here!
