Mental Health First Aid - Testimonials from your fellow members!
The Family Health Foundation of Illinois is a proud advocate for Mental Health First Aid. MHFA is a course that teaches to identify the risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction and where to turn for help. It helps physicians and other healthcare professionals understand both recovery and resiliency and what individuals can do to get better.
Mental health struggles have grown in numbers and public awareness, triggered or exacerbated by the complications of the COVID-19 pandemic. Every primary care provider should have a “first aid” approach in assessing all our patients’ mental health at every encounter. The MHFA course provides the tools for all first line health care professionals and community members and is a valuable certification for any resume.
IAFP members Dr. Raj Shah, Laura Hurley, Dr. Lauren Turich, Parastoo Taravati, and Dr. Daniel Bester recorded video testimonials about why they became involved with Mental Health First Aid and how it helps them in family practice. Take a few minutes to watch as they explain how MHFA training has impacted them and why you should get trained, too!
Email [email protected] to schedule a special training for your practice, residency or family medicine interest or other student groups.
The Foundation Board is grateful to Dr. Raj Shah for the incredible work he has done with IAFP and especially medical students in leading MHFA sessions. His dedication has helped IAFP #bethedifference as our members help their patients, help their colleagues, and help themselves.
